The 10,000-acre Corn Yield Improvement Project Is in Northeast China

Project Overview
In Luobei County, Heilongjiang Province, a 30,000-acre corn farm adopted a smart agriculture monitoring system to enhance crop management and resource efficiency. The solution integrated real-time field data collection (soil temperature/humidity, pH, salinity, wind speed/direction, light intensity, rainfall, pest populations, and crop growth status) to optimize decision-making in breeding, land preparation, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide application, and harvesting.

Key Solutions

  1. Four-Condition Monitoring System

    • Deployed sensors to track soil, weather, pests, and crop health, enabling data-driven farming decisions.

  2. Automated Water-Fertilizer Integration

    • Installed smart fertilizing machines and 4G-enabled irrigation controllers to deliver timed, quantified, and targeted water/fertilizer distribution, resolving uneven irrigation and low fertilizer efficiency.

Project Benefits

  • 15% reduction in chemical fertilizer and pesticide usage.

  • 35% savings in irrigation water consumption.

  • 8% increase in corn yield per acre.

  • Triple-win outcomes:

    • Economic: Higher productivity and cost savings.

    • Ecological: Reduced agrochemical pollution and water conservation.

    • Social: Promoted sustainable farming practices.

Impact
This project demonstrates how precision agriculture technologies can transform traditional farming into a resource-efficient, high-yield, and environmentally friendly system, aligning with global goals for smart and sustainable agriculture.
